From alerts to demonstrable readiness
Retrospective for 19–25 August: a GitLab advisory and practical training announced in Slovenia. Prepared on 8 September 2026; not an issue published earlier.
GitLab: connect the alert to the system you actually operate
What changed
On 21 August, Canada’s Cyber Centre updated its GitLab advisory: public reporting indicates active exploitation of CVE-2026-19478.
Editorial interpretation and suggested checks
Why it matters
Our editorial assessment: recognising a product name is not the same as knowing your exposure. Identify the instance, version, owner and evidence of action. This is not a finding about any particular customer’s systems.
What to check
- Map installed instances to the asset inventory, service owner and relevant vendor advisory.
- Record the update decision and verification evidence; assign an owner and review date to each exception.

What changed
On 25 August, URSIV announced three autumn workshops with ENISA covering policies and risk, incident response and the effectiveness of measures, in support of Slovenia’s ZInfV-1.
Editorial interpretation and suggested checks
Why it matters
Our editorial recommendation: organise compliance preparation around evidence of implementation, not simply the number of approved documents. This is a training announcement, not new legislation; Slovenian law does not automatically apply to organisations in Serbia.
What to check
- For one important policy, connect the requirement, responsible person, procedure and evidence of implementation.
- Prepare one disruption scenario and check who decides, who communicates and where the exercise record is retained.
Applicable organizations and jurisdictions
European Union
